Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with Spanish King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez during his visit to Madrid, his spokesman, Serhiy Nikiforov, told the Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne on Nov. 18.
Zelenskyy will also visit a local defense manufacturer and hold talks with representatives from other Spanish defense companies as Ukraine continues to seek expanded military support.
Earlier in the day, Zelenskyy visited Spain’s parliament, where he met with the president of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, and the president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán.
Upon arriving in Spain on Nov. 17, Zelenskyy said he hopes to secure new commitments from Madrid to “protect the lives of Ukrainians” and “bring the war closer to an end.”
“We are working to ensure that the meeting with Spanish Prime Minister [Pedro] Sánchez yields agreements that will strengthen us,” he wrote on Telegram.
On Nov. 19, Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to Turkey for meetings where Ukraine will present proposals aimed at accelerating the negotiation process.
