Zelenskyy holds "special format" Commander-in-Chief briefing

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a Commander-in-Chief
briefing in "a special format" on Aug. 9, according to a message
posted on Telegram.
"Today's Commander-in-Chief briefing was in a special format with the smallest circle of people and the utmost attention to a single topic — our counteroffensive," Zelenskyy said.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhnyi, Commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, and Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi provided an in-depth analysis of the military’s operations, Zelenskyy said.

Ukrainian forces have breached the first line of Russian defenses in southern Ukraine in some areas of the front, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said on Aug. 4.
The newest thrust of Ukraine’s counteroffensive is toward Ukraine’s southeast, The New York Times reported on July 27. The counteroffensive operation is complicated with large areas of mined land and relentless enemy artillery fire.
Ukrainian defenders described the initial phase of the operation as “chaos,” reported the Financial Times, adding that Kyiv has changed tactics to avoid heavy losses.
