Zelenskyy arrives in Finland seeking stronger partnership
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Finland on Tuesday, March 18, Finnish broadcaster Helsingin Sanomat reported.
"We are honored to welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska to Finland," Finnish President Alexander Stubb wrote on social media.
Zelenskyy confirmed his visit shortly afterward, stating he plans to meet with President Stubb, Finnish First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb, the parliamentary speaker, lawmakers, Prime Minister, government officials, and representatives from defense companies.
The discussions are expected to cover military support for Ukraine, investments in weapons production, Ukraine’s European integration, Finland's civil protection systems, and enhanced sanctions against Russia.
"Europe needs to be at the negotiating table," Zelenskyy emphasized. "Everything concerning European security must be decided together with Europe."
Meanwhile, First Lady Olena Zelenska’s agenda includes expanding the Coalition for Ukrainian Studies, ensuring safety in educational facilities and school shelters, sharing expertise in school meal programs, and meeting with business leaders, philanthropists, and cultural figures.
Earlier, President Stubb stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin "is not interested in a ceasefire or peace," with his intentions toward Ukraine unchanged.
On March 13, during a meeting between Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Finland announced a new €200 million aid package—the 28th such package for Ukraine.
