Ukraine’s plan to tackle demobilization: timely troop rotations
Regular rotations could be the key to addressing the demobilization issue for Ukraine’s Defense Forces. That’s the view expressed by Mykhailo Kmytiuk, commander of the Typhoon Special Drone Systems Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine, in an interview with NV.
“If timely or scheduled rotations of personnel are organized, the demobilization issue will resolve itself,” Kmytiuk said.
Kmytiuk also emphasized the need for a realistic perspective, noting that the enemy significantly outnumbers Ukrainian forces. For this reason, he said, “simply proceeding with demobilization is not a great idea.”
The officer is convinced that the full-scale war will continue into 2025. “I don’t even think about [the war ending],” he added. “The focus right now should be on preparing [our fighters].”
According to Kmytiuk, if the war persists, the Defense Forces must remain ready to destroy the enemy and defend Ukrainian territory.
“Just hoping that the war will end soon, sitting back and doing nothing, and then realizing it’s still going on—and only then starting to act? I don’t even consider that an option,” the officer concluded.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
