The Russian army has suffered an estimated 1,000,340 total personnel losses — killed and wounded — since the start of its full-scale invasion, AFU General Staff wrote on June 12.

Approximately 1,140 Russian troops were eliminated in the past 24 hours alone.

The General Staff also updated its data on Russian equipment losses:

  • Operational-tactical UAVs — 40,435 (+138)

The General Staff also released a video comparing Russia’s human losses to the workforce needed to construct ancient wonders like the Lighthouse of Alexandria and the Egyptian pyramids.

“One million Russians — killed or maimed — will never build anything, because they came to destroy and ruin a neighboring country,” the Ukrainian military stated.

Russian losses in Ukraine

On June 3, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that 200,000 Russian troops had been lost in 2025 alone.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) estimates over 1 million Russian casualties, with around 250,000 killed.

On June 7, Mediazona and BBC Russia reported the confirmed identities of 111,387 Russian soldiers killed since the war began.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
