Russia hits 20 Ukrainian locations in overnight drone and missile barrage
Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine on Aug. 20, firing two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 93 Shahed-type strike drones, as well as various drone decoys, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
The ballistic missiles were launched from Russian-occupied Crimea, while the drones came from multiple directions — including Shatalovo, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from Crimea.
Ukrainian air defenses shot down one of the missiles and intercepted 62 drones over the country’s north and east.
The Air Force said missile and drone strikes hit 20 separate locations across Ukraine.
Earlier on Aug. 20, officials reported that Russian forces attacked the city of Okhtyrka in Sumy Oblast overnight, injuring 12 people, including two children. The strike damaged an apartment building and several private homes.
In a separate attack, Russian drones targeted Odesa Oblast, triggering a major fire at an energy facility.
