McDonald’s warehouse hit as Russian strikes kill five in capital

A Russian attack drone struck a warehouse used by McDonald’s during a massive assault on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast on Sept. 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“There were also drone strikes today on a warehouse used by McDonald’s. An attack drone against ordinary food products,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
The president said Russia was increasingly targeting foreign and Ukrainian businesses, communications infrastructure and other parts of everyday civilian life.
“The Russians are constantly expanding their escalation campaign: American and other businesses, data centers, internet providers — all ordinary life is simply a target for Russia,” Zelenskyy said. “All of this undermines people’s ability to stay connected, study and work.”
He called for stronger international pressure on Moscow, saying Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities and international sanctions should work together to impose tangible costs on Russia.
Reuters also reported on Sept. 25 that a food warehouse used by McDonald’s had been hit in the Russian attack.
Zelenskyy did not specify the precise location of the McDonald’s warehouse in his statement. Kyiv regional authorities separately reported damage to warehouse facilities in Brovary district during the same attack.
Data center, homes and offices hit across Kyiv
Russia attacked Kyiv and the surrounding region with drones throughout the night and into the day on Sept. 25.
In Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district, a drone hit a 25-story apartment building at the level of the fourth floor.
Another drone struck a residential building in the Pecherskyi district, while a building housing Ukraine’s High Council of Justice was hit in the Shevchenkivskyi district, injuring six people.
Later in the day, a Russian drone struck an office building in the Solomianskyi district.
Four people were killed at the site of the daytime strike, while seven others were injured, including a child, Zelenskyy said.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko later said the overall toll from the day’s attacks on the capital had risen to five people killed and 31 injured. Fifteen of the injured remained hospitalized, including two children.
Reuters confirmed that five people were killed in Kyiv on Sept. 25, including a 14-year-old boy killed in an earlier strike on a high-rise residential building.
The attack also damaged a Datagroup data center in Kyiv. The telecommunications company said no employees were injured, customer data remained secure and services continued operating through backup infrastructure.
Russia has intensified attacks on Ukrainian businesses, logistics centers and civilian infrastructure in recent weeks. Reuters reported that the Sept. 25 strikes came amid a broader Russian campaign targeting Ukraine’s industrial and economic infrastructure.
