Russian Ka-52 shot down by its own forces, crew killed — The Insider

A Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter was reportedly shot down by friendly fire while repelling a Ukrainian drone attack inside Russia, the independent outlet The Insider reported on Oct. 28, citing Russian pro-war channels.
According to several Z-channels, the helicopter’s crew was killed. One claimed the Ka-52 was mistaken for a drone, prompting a Russian fighter jet to open fire.
The Insider calculated that this is at least the 17th documented case of Russia’s own aircraft being destroyed by friendly fire since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
So far, Russia has lost 12 planes and five helicopters in such incidents, including four Su-35s, three Su-34s, two A-50 airborne early warning aircraft, a Su-27, a Su-30, an Il-22, two Ka-52s, a Ka-29, a Mi-24, and a Mi-8.
On Sept. 29, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian Mi-8 helicopter using an FPV drone.
On Oct. 28 alone, Russia lost an estimated 1,060 soldiers killed or wounded, along with six tanks, eight artillery systems, and two multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
