Two people were killed and five others injured in Russia’s latest strikes on Ukraine’s Odesa Oblast, regional governor Oleh Kiper said on May 3.
Russian forces again targeted civilian and port infrastructure across the region, Kiper said. Three residential buildings were hit by drones in Odesa district, while two more were damaged. Port facilities and equipment were also affected.
Emergency crews have already extinguished fires caused by the attacks, Kiper said.
A high-speed aerial target was detected over Mykolaiv Oblast heading toward Odesa Oblast at 8:43 a.m., Ukraine’s Air Force reported. Explosions were later heard in the city of Mykolaiv, Suspilne reported.
Russian forces also launched Shahed drone attacks on Mykolaiv and the surrounding region on May 2 and overnight into May 3, striking energy infrastructure and causing power outages, local authorities said. The Nikopol district in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast came under a large-scale drone attack overnight as well, leaving one person injured.
Russia launched a ballistic Iskander-M missile and 268 attack drones starting at 7 p.m. on May 2, Ukraine’s Air Force said. Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 249 drones across the country. Impacts from one ballistic missile and 19 drones were recorded across 15 locations, while debris fell at one additional site.
