Ukraine downs 47 Russian drones in massive aerial attack across nine regions
Russian forces launched 72 attack drones, including Shahed UAVs and other types, against Ukraine between 10:00 a.m. on Dec. 22 and 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 23, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
As of 9:00 a.m. Monday, Ukraine’s air defense systems had shot down 47 drones over the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions.
Additionally, 25 Russian decoy drones were lost from radar detection, according to the Air Force.
The report noted that the attack damaged private businesses and residential buildings in the Khmelnytskyi and Kyiv regions. Preliminary reports indicated no fatalities, although some injuries were reported.
Earlier on Dec. 23, the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration confirmed that drone strikes had damaged equipment at an industrial facility, leaving one person injured.
