Ukraine reports offensive gains on Oleksandrivsk front

Units of Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces (DShV) continue offensive operations, pushing Russian troops from fortified positions, the command said on Feb. 27, publishing video on Telegram of an assault on enemy positions along the Oleksandrivsk front.
According to the description accompanying the footage, two reconnaissance soldiers from the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps approached an enemy position at close range and threw an assault charge inside.
“The outcome is convincing,” the Air Assault Forces said.
The fortification was destroyed along with the personnel inside, according to the statement.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Feb. 16 that the situation along the Oleksandrivsk front and near Huliaipole remained difficult, but Ukrainian Defense Forces were successfully conducting counterattacks and assault operations.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Feb. 20 that Ukrainian forces had liberated 300 square kilometers (about 116 square miles) of territory in southern Ukraine as part of counteroffensive actions. He did not specify the time frame.
On Feb. 22, the Air Assault Forces officially confirmed an offensive operation on the Oleksandrivsk front.
On Feb. 23, Syrskyi said Ukrainian forces had regained control of 400 square kilometers (about 154 square miles) and eight settlements along the Oleksandrivske front since late January.
