Ukraine hits major TANECO oil complex in Tatarstan with FP-1 drones

Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Taneco oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, with Ukrainian FP-1 drones, Ukrainian defense company Fire Point said, publishing footage filmed by eyewitnesses showing the drones in flight.
Taneco is one of Russia’s largest oil refining complexes, with a design capacity of more than 16 million metric tons of crude oil per year, Fire Point said in the video description. The facility produces diesel and aviation fuel, gasoline, and a wide range of other petroleum products.
At around 6 a.m. on Aug. 20, Tatarstan authorities reported a drone attack threat in several cities across the republic, including Nizhnekamsk.
OSINT channels also reported that drones had attacked Nizhnekamsk and that the local refinery had come under attack.
The mayor of Nizhnekamsk confirmed the attack but claimed that “air defense forces successfully repelled another massive attack on our district.”
This was not the first strike on the refinery. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine previously confirmed that the Taneco refinery in Nizhnekamsk had been hit on Aug. 10.
