Ukrainian defense forces have stabilized the situation in Yampil, Donetsk Oblast, and are eliminating Russian sabotage groups operating in the area, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said.

He reported that the situation in the Lyman sector, near the settlement of Yampil, is now under control.

“Units of the Special Operations Forces, Ground Forces, and the National Guard of Ukraine are conducting strike-and-search operations in the town to locate and destroy remaining enemy sabotage groups,” Syrskyi said.

He added that Ukrainian forces are continuing to strike Russian logistics hubs and troop concentrations in the Dobropillia sector.

On Sept. 28, Ukraine’s 11th Army Corps denied Russian claims of advancing into Yampil, confirming that the town remains under Ukrainian control and that all Russian reconnaissance and sabotage units attempting to infiltrate the area are being destroyed.

Earlier, on Sept. 15, Russian troops disguised themselves in civilian clothes—violating international law—to infiltrate Yampil. Ukrainian units from the 11th Army Corps carried out counter-sabotage operations, discovering, blocking, and neutralizing the intruders.

The DeepState monitoring project previously reported that the situation around Yampil remains tense, noting repeated sightings of Russian troops attempting to find routes into the town.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
