Ukrainian SOF eliminate 13 North Korean soldiers in Kursk, uncover their documents

Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) of the 8th Regiment eliminated 13 North Korean soldiers sent by Kim Jong Un to fight for Russia in its war against Ukraine, the military wrote on Jan. 7.
Five were killed in a direct firefight, while another eight were eliminated using drones.
SSO’s official Telegram channel published the photos of soldiers and their documents.
"After the battle, SSO operators conducted an inspection of the bodies and their personal documents," the report stated.
Among the belongings of one fallen soldier, Ukrainian troops found an assault rifle with a collimator sight, a Chinese-Russian Azart radio station, a drone detector, and an ID card that differed from a standard military booklet.
"The discovered items suggest that this individual may have belonged to the officer ranks," the SSO noted.
Ukrainian forces recovered a letter addressed to the North Korean ruling party, the contents of which have been decrypted and published.
North Korean losses in Kursk Oblast
On Dec. 15, the commander of the Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance unit 'Ptakhi Madyara', Robert Brovdi (callsign Madyar), released footage allegedly showing the bodies of North Korean and Russian soldiers killed in a Dec. 14 assault in Kursk Oblast.
On Dec. 16, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) confirmed that North Korean troops fighting alongside Russian forces in Kursk had lost at least 30 soldiers killed or wounded between Dec. 14-15.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later revealed that Russian forces were burning the faces of dead North Korean soldiers to cover up their losses and avoid international scandal.
Speaking to American podcaster Lex Fridman on Jan. 5, Zelenskyy said that 3,800 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
