An unknown drone fell into Lake Drīdzis in Latvia’s Krāslava Municipality and exploded, with police, military personnel and rescuers now investigating the incident, Latvia’s State Police reported on May 23.
Residents reported the drone crash at around 8 a.m., saying the UAV fell into the lake and detonated after hitting the water.
No casualties were reported.
Police officers immediately arrived at the scene and began an inspection. Possible drone fragments were found at the site, police said.
Additional forces were also deployed, including police using a drone, State Fire and Rescue Service personnel with a boat, and Latvia’s National Armed Forces.
