The document, signed by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto and endorsed by the foreign and economy ministers, authorizes the “transfer of the means, materials, and military equipment listed in a classified document prepared by the Ukraine's General Staff.”
“The means, materials, and equipment are provided free of charge to the recipient,” the decree added.
On Oct. 24, Bloomberg, citing its own sources, reported that Italy’s 12th military aid package for Ukraine will focus on ammunition and missiles for the SAMP/T air defense system.
According to those sources, the package could be finalized by the end of 2025, depending on parliamentary procedures.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has already sent 11 military assistance packages. Their total value is estimated at between €2.5 and €3 billion ($2.7 and 3.2 billion), Bloomberg’s sources said.
The agency’s interlocutors also noted that Italy has already supplied Ukraine with two SAMP/T missile batteries, but exact details of the packages remain strictly classified as state secrets.
