Russian strike hits major Odesa market, injures 3 people

The number of people injured in the market strike on the outskirts of Odesa stood at three as of 10:02 a.m., including a 58-year-old security guard, who was hospitalized in moderate condition. Two more men, born in 1972 and 1978, sought medical attention; hospitalization was not required for them.

Kiper said the strike hit a market located on the outskirts of Odesa.

Iryna Tkach, deputy director of the 7th Kilometer market, told Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne that the strike damaged an administrative building and structures near the restrooms.

"The situation is currently under control. An employee was injured and has already undergone surgery. The market will do everything it can to help everyone who needs it," she said.

Overnight into Sept. 8, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using dozens of missiles and 166 drones of various types.

Ukraine's Air Force said the Odesa and Kyiv oblasts were the primary targets of the attack.

According to preliminary information, Ukrainian air defenses neutralized two Iskander-M/KN-23/S-400/Onyx ballistic missiles; 31 Kh-101 and Iskander-K cruise missiles; and 142 enemy drones of various types.

Russian forces struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles, causing destruction in at least five districts of the capital. Debris and fires were reported in the Solomyanskyi, Darnytskyi, Holosiyivskyi, Dniprovskyi, and Podilskyi districts.

Rescuers freed people from damaged high-rise buildings and extinguished fires at garages, a warehouse building and a business center. According to preliminary data, at least two people were killed and 10 more were injured in the attack.
