Drone Forces inflict $20bn in losses on Russia in seven months

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces have struck 168k+ Russian targets in the seven months since their creation, with the estimated value of the destroyed or damaged assets totaling $20 billion, the military reported on Jan. 5.

The Drone Forces highlighted that over the past seven months their formations have effectively carried out assigned missions across key frontline sectors.

Over this period, operators of the Unmanned Systems Forces conducted more than 832,000 combat sorties, the statement said.

Among the confirmed targets hit:

  • 50,238 Russian soldiers

  • 532 tanks

  • 7,697 vehicles

  • 5,548 motorcycles

  • around 2,500 artillery systems and howitzers.

The Unmanned Systems Forces struck more than 350 targets inside Russian territory, causing estimated losses to the Russian military of about $3 billion per month.

On Jan. 1, Unmanned Systems Forces Commander Robert Brovdi stated that in a single day Ukrainian drone units neutralized four high-value Russian air defense systems — two Tor systems, one Buk, and an S-350 Vityaz radar.

On Jan. 2, operators of the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck a fuel and lubricants storage base and a radar system in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
