Russia attacks Ukraine with 105 Shahed drones: air defense downs 78, 24 others lost on radars

Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 78 of 105 Shahed 136\131 type drones, one more headed toward Belarus, while 23 others lost radar contact over different oblasts, Air Force reported on Oct. 3.

The drones were launched from Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Kursk in Russia, as well as from Cape Chauda in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Air Forces and Defense Forces aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups repelled the enemy attack.

Air defense operated in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Chernihiv, Kherson, Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Rivne, and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts.

Air raid alerts were declared across Ukraine due to a new drone attack overnight on Oct. 3.

Falling debris was reported near a residential building in Kyiv's Desnianskyi district. Explosions were also heard in Western Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.
