Russian forces launch 14 mass attacks and 700 missiles in its grueling winter campaign
Nation2 March, 02:52 PM
Military report, released on March 2, indicated that the intensity of the air campaign escalated significantly toward the end of the season. While December and January saw seven mass strikes combined, February alone accounted for an additional seven large-scale attacks.
The report highlighted several "peak" events in the winter months:
Dec. 6 (Armed Forces Day): One of the largest strikes of the war, involved 704 aerial targets, including 51 missiles.
January: Marked by a heavy reliance on ballistic weaponry, including the use of Zircon hypersonic missiles on Jan. 20 and 24.
Feb. 3: Recorded the single highest number of missiles in one winter attack, with 71 units launched.
Feb. 26: Saw a massive swarm of 420 drones deployed in a single coordinated raid.
President Zelenskyy recently estimated the total winter onslaught — including smaller daily raids — at approximately 738 missiles, 14,670 guided aerial bombs (KABs), and nearly 19,000 attack drones.
Spring has not stopped the enemy aerial terror. On the night of March 2, the Russian military launched 94 drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types. Ukrainian air defense units successfully neutralized 84 targets.
Despite the high interception rate, impacts were reported in Kryvyi Rih, where an industrial enterprise sustained significant damage.
A strike in the village of Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhya Oblast, left two children injured.
