With an annual processing capacity of 7 to 8.9 million tons of crude oil, Syzran refinery in Russia’s Samara Oblast is heavily involved in supplying fuel to the aggressor country's armed forces. Ukrainian Defense Forces have repeatedly targeted this specific facility in the past, including a major strike in December 2025 that forced the plant to temporarily suspend its operations.

Explosions were also reported at the Syzran facility in April 2026.
