Overtly pro-Russian political party, the Slavic Party, has been banned in Ukraine through a court ruling, the Justice Ministry announced on Oct. 24.

The Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal issued the corresponding ruling on Oct. 22.

The assets, funds, and other property of the party, including its regional, municipal, district organizations, and primary cells, have been transferred into state ownership.

"The claim by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine against the Slavic Party, with the Security Service of Ukraine as a third party without independent claims, has been satisfied," the court ruling said.

The Slavic Party is a pro-Russian Ukrainian political party, previously known as the Civic Congress of Ukraine until 1998.

On May 14, 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a law that expands the grounds for court bans on political parties. The new grounds include justifying or recognizing the legitimacy of armed aggression against Ukraine and denying such aggression.
