After a round of talks with European and U.S. officials in Paris, Kyiv remains committed to enacting a full and unconditional ceasefire in the Russo–Ukrainian war, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on April 17.

“We noted progress in peace efforts and emphasized the importance of U.S. leadership and engagement,” Sybiha wrote in a Telegram post after a day of meetings at the Elysee Palace.

“Ukraine remains committed to achieving peace and is eager end the war as quickly as possible.”

The minister noted that on March 11, Ukraine agreed to enact a full ceasefire with no preconditions, provided Moscow agrees to follow suit. He said the decision should be put into effect as soon as possible.

He reiterated the need to increase pressure on Russia to achieve a just and lasting peace and reaffirmed Ukraine’s firm position on the broader peace process.

According to the President’s Office, a key moment for the Ukrainian delegation was its meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoys Steve Witkoff and Keith Kellogg. Officials said both sides held a constructive and positive discussion on achieving a complete ceasefire and the next steps toward a lasting peace.

All parties present at the meetings in Paris agreed that a complete, unconditional cease-fire should be the first step toward sustainable peace.
