"Thanks to our defenders, [Russia] did not succeed. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no deaths or injuries. Specialized services are working on site," he wrote.
Mayor Andriy Sadovyi also confirmed that explosions were heard in Lviv.
The Air Force reported drone movement toward Lviv at 8:44 a.m.
"The sounds of explosions that you may have heard in Lviv at 8:48 a.m. and in Khodoriv at 8:40 a.m. mean that our air defense forces have destroyed enemy drones," Kozytskyy wrote.
“Thank you to our soldiers! I will provide more information later, as security considerations allow.”
On Feb. 5, a drone was neutralized in the Lviv municipality. It was an attack on critical infrastructure, Sadovyi said.
Overnight into Feb. 8, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 101 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types of strike UAVs, about 70 of which were Shaheds. According to preliminary data, as of 8:30 a.m., 69 enemy drones were shot down or suppressed by air defense forces.
At the same time, 32 strike UAVs were recorded hitting 13 locations, and debris fell at one location.
On the evening of Feb. 7, Russia attacked Ukraine with guided aerial bombs and UAVs, and several explosions were heard in Kharkiv. In the morning, a group of Shaheds attacked Volyn Oblast in western Ukraine.
