Belarusian air forces scrambled a fighter jet from the Baranovichi airfield in response to a group of Russian drones flying over Belarusian territory overnight, monitoring project Belaruski Hajun wrote on Oct. 31.

The drones entered Belarusian airspace near Liubech, then headed northwest toward Khoiniki and Mozyr, rather than toward Ukraine.

This is not the first instance of Russian drones violating Belarusian airspace. At least eight Russian Shahed kamikaze drones entered Belarusian territory in a night attack on Ukraine on Oct. 18. Belarusian air defense scrambled jets to intercept the drones.

These incidents reflect a tense regional situation and heightened readiness by Belarusian forces to respond to airspace violations.
