Although there has been no official confirmation of Zelenskyy’s potential visit to the Serbian capital, diplomatic sources anticipate that a joint memorandum of understanding on trade cooperation between the two nations could be signed in the near future.
Since the start of the full-scale war, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has visited Ukraine once — on June 11, 2025, for the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in the southern port city of Odesa.
In November 2025, Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with Vucic. They discussed the European integration of both Ukraine and Serbia, as well as how the countries can assist one another. Zelenskyy also noted that he discussed opportunities for regional security cooperation with his Serbian counterpart.
In October, Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated in an interview with Fox News that Belgrade is ready to serve as a platform for peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
He also emphasized that the war in Ukraine must end "immediately." According to Djuric, Belgrade "in principle supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states within their UN-recognized borders," including Ukraine.
