Severe power cuts introduced across Ukraine after the massive Russian missile attack on Aug. 26 are likely to peter out throughout the week, Oleksandr Kharchenko, the Managing Director at Energy Industry Research Center consultancy, said on Aug. 27.

“I believe the energy supply situation should significantly improve within a week,” news agency Interfax-Ukraine quoted Kharchenko.

“In three to four days, it will already be noticeable.”

He noted that the forecast is based on the nature of the damage sustained in the Monday attack, allowing specialists to restore the energy system's capabilities relatively quickly. At the same time, the expert reiterated that the situation could worsen due to potential future air strikes against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

“It’s hard to say if we can completely avoid rolling blackouts, but restrictions should decrease in the near future,” Kharchenko added.
