"When the situation in Ukraine began to change, I realized that I could not help here, that I was not needed here, because things got much better,” the two-time Olympic champion said.
“Now I have a great motivation. It is greater than before the fight with Teofimo Lopez. I believe that if God granted me another chance, I will use it.”
The Ukrainian also said that in case of his victory over Ortiz, he may stand a chance to fight for the title of the absolute world champion again.
The 34-year-old Lomachenko has fought 18 fights on the professional ring, bagged 16 victories and suffered two defeats.
The 26-year-old Ortiz has 17 fights under his belt. He also boasts 16 victories, and one fight with his participation ended in a tie.
Lomachenko held his last fight in December 2021, when he won a unanimous victory over Ghanaian professional boxer Richard Commey.
