The volunteer shared that the shelter housed sick and war-injured animals.
"There were dogs that were wounded, concussed, and with epilepsy. The guys brought in very different animals," she noted.
Ovcharenko noted that before the full-scale invasion, she had about 20 animals, but after the hostilities, the number of abandoned dogs and cats grew rapidly.
In the evacuation, the couple transported 64 dogs and 117 cats under constant attacks.
In Balakliia, the animals were settled in a purchased house located near a field, where it is calm and spacious for them.
From Kostyantynivka, in addition to the animals, Alyona Ovcharenko and her husband transported disassembled enclosures, doghouses, and even linoleum from the "cat house." They do all the animal care work themselves.
The volunteer said that the shelter now needs support for heating, and the animals constantly need medication and food.
Despite the war and shelling, some animals manage to find new families.
