Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair made the corresponding statement after the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Ramstein, Germany. Most of the funds will be spent on artillery shells.
“Ammunition remains one of Ukraine's key priorities, so today's announcement includes the allocation of $200 million to the Czech initiative for purchasing and delivering large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine,” the statement read.
The remaining $100 million will be used to place orders with Ukraine’s domestic defense industry.
“The defense minister also pledged $100 million toward the 'Danish model' to support the production of drones by the Ukrainian defense industry,” the ministry noted.
Additionally, Canada has announced that it has already provided Ukraine with drone cameras valued at approximately $50 million and has sent several shipments of winter clothing valued at around $23 million.
The previous package of Canadian military aid to Kyiv was announced on July 11, 2024, totaling $367 million.
