Czechia supports removal of restrictions on Ukrainian strikes deep into Russian territory

It's better for Russian warplanes carrying missiles and bombs to never launch than for Ukrainian air defense to try and intercept them once they've been fired, the minister said.

Lipavský admitted, however, that there are "many difficulties and many different perspectives" between Ukraine's partners on this matter.

"Let's be realists about the fact that the most complicated weapons systems, the ones that have the capability of striking long-range targets, or those simply capable of putting certain strategic dilemmas in front of the intended target, are not sent from Czechia," he said.

"This means that we do not encounter the same kind of questions that some of our partners, for example, have run into."

The Czech minister added that his country will continue to support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression, in the military, humanitarian, and political spheres, "as long as it takes for Ukraine to win."

He did admit that maintaining this "solidarity" is complicated even for Central European states – especially when countries like Hungary and Slovakia are involved.

"There are a lot of difficulties and a lot of different points of view," he said.

"But that is our job – to keep them as close as possible."
