Kharkiv reels from overnight drone attack — fires, deaths, destruction

Russian forces launched a swift and deadly drone strike on Kharkiv, hitting the city with at least 17 Shahed drones over the course of just 10 minutes, the city's Prosecutor Office wrote on Telegram on June 11.

Officials shared the photos from the scene and detailed the aftermath of the attack.

"The attack targeted the Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts," the authorities wrote.

"So far, three deaths have been confirmed. A 66-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were killed instantly during the strike. A 65-year-old man later died in a burn intensive care unit after being hospitalized in critical condition with severe burns."

At least 60 people, including nine children, were injured with varying degrees of trauma.

The drones struck private homes, apartment buildings, and businesses, triggering multiple fires. Shops, kiosks, cars, and trolleybuses were also damaged in the attack.

Footage and photos from the scene show burning apartments, collapsed roofs, destroyed vehicles, and shattered windows. Some residents were rescued from their homes as flames engulfed the buildings.

That same night, Russian forces also attacked Odesa Oblast, where fires broke out and summer homes, utility structures, civilian cars, and small watercraft were damaged.
