Russian forces advanced near the village of Zakitne in Donetsk Oblast and also made progress in areas close to Hulyaipole in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
DeepState reported that Russian troops advanced near the village of Tykhe in the Vovchansk community of Kharkiv Oblast, as well as near Pryvillia, Vasiukivka, Nykyforivka, and the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast a day earlier.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), in their Jan. 31 assessment, also reported Russian advances on the Pokrovsk and Hulyaipole axes. At the same time, Ukrainian forces advanced in Kharkiv Oblast, maintained defensive positions on the Kupyansk axis, and continued operations in the tactical zone between Kostyantynivka and Druzhkivka.
On Feb. 1, DeepState wrote that Russian forces occupied 245 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in January — nearly half the area seized in December and November.
Pokrovsk sector accounted for the highest share of Russian assault operations, representing 33% of all attacks. Hulyaipole sector ranked second, accounting for 21% of assaults, where enemy activity increased by a factor of 1.75.
“Next come Kostyantynivka (12%), Lyman (8%), and Oleksandrivka sectors (8%).
Slovyansk sector became a negative outlier: while it accounted for only 3% of assaults, it represented nearly 20% of territorial losses,” DeepState reported.
