A NASA Worldview satellite image indicates that after Ukrainian drone attacks, smoke from burning oil storage tanks in Tuapse stretched more than 300 kilometers and reached the city of Stavropol, Radio Liberty reported on April 21.

The Krasnodar Krai Emergency Response Headquarters has stated that efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing.

Data from NASA FIRMS, the agency’s fire monitoring system, also show tanks at the Tuapse refinery continue to burn.

Overnight into April 20, drones carried out a second consecutive mass attack on the seaport in Tuapse, sparking new fires. The media reported about 10 separate fire locations from the strikes.

That same day, Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed that Ukrainian Defense Forces units struck several key Russian sites, including the Tuapse refinery, where hits on the tank farm were recorded followed by a fire on the facility’s grounds.

Russian media wrote that “oil rain” fell in Tuapse after the drone attack on the refinery.
