Regional emergency services issued warnings of potential drone attacks across Belgorod and the Belgorodsky District overnight and into the morning of Aug. 3, recommending residents remain indoors, stay away from windows, or seek shelter.

Belgorod State Technological University engineered an automated drone control system based on the Milandr microprocessor, Russian Telegram channel Astra reported, citing data from the university's official channel. However, university officials claimed that the project served civilian purposes, specifically monitoring power transmission lines, heating mainlines, and aerial surveying.

In the summer of 2026, the university announced enrollment for summer youth courses focused on drone development.
