Russia targets DTEK's energy asset in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with drone attack

The attack damaged the facility’s production site, with buildings and equipment sustaining significant harm. No DTEK employees were injured, the company reported.

DTEK’s energy workers are doing everything possible to maintain uninterrupted power supply in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

Late on April 16, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on Dnipro, killing three people, including a child, and injuring 31, including four children. The strike caused multiple fires and damaged homes, student dormitories, a university building, a food processing plant, and vehicles.

That night, Russia fired five missiles and 75 drones across Ukraine, with 55 drones either shot down or lost without impact, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

On April 16, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said Russia had violated an “energy ceasefire” 30 times. 

The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War reported that Russia may soon end the ceasefire and intensify long-range strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
