Drone raid hits Yaroslavl and Moscow, highway traffic and public transit halted — video

Updated at 8:10 a.m. Ukrainian defense company Fire Point reported that its FP-1 strike drones hit the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery (Slavneft-YANOS), one of Russia's largest refining facilities with an annual capacity of approximately 15 million metric tons of crude oil.

Yaroslavl Oblast Governor Mikhail Yevrayev announced that outbound traffic from Yaroslavl heading toward Moscow was suspended due to an active drone threat. Public transit routes across the area were partially canceled or redirected.

Exilenova+ monitoring Telegram channel published video footage showing drones transiting the skies above Yaroslavl, accompanied by audible detonations across the city.

UAV strikes were also reported across Moscow Oblast and the capital itself. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin claimed air defense units downed two drones flying toward the capital. Monitoring channels reported a structural fire in Pavlovsky Posad, Moscow Oblast.

Regional authorities also declared drone alerts across Vladimir and Ivanovo oblasts, according to the Astra Telegram channel.

On Aug. 25, Axios reported that the United States had requested that Ukraine refrain from launching deep strikes against Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and northern Russian oblasts for a three-day window, likely coinciding with a diplomatic visit by CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
