Fire Point unveils proprietary turbojet engine for FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles

According to Terekh, the engine was created in collaboration with the design bureau that earlier developed the AI-25 aircraft engine. Its modified variant, the AI-25TL, was utilized on initial versions of the Flamingo missile.
Terekh noted that during flight testing, the missile had already been fitted with five different types of engines, as the Flamingo was engineered from the outset as a platform compatible with various propulsion systems.
Development of the proprietary turbojet engine spanned over six months. The company is assembling the first ten prototypes featuring in-house fan assemblies.
Fire Point plans to complete engine testing and integrate necessary modifications by the end of 2026, with a transition to serial mass production scheduled for the following year.
Terekh also reported that the company has not yet achieved its target production rate of at least seven Flamingo missiles per day.
According to her, order volumes fell below the facility's maximum manufacturing capacity due to delays in funding under European Union credit programs. The company expects to scale up production to the planned rate by late 2026 or early 2027, depending on the arrival of new contracts.
In July, Fire Point also introduced FP-7.x anti-ballistic missiles for the Freyja air defense system. Earlier, the company reported the first guided test flight of the missile and outlined plans to collaborate with Germany's Diehl Defence on guidance systems.
