Massive Russian strike on Kyiv leaves four dead and dozens injured

The rescuers reported four people killed and 58 injured, including three children.

Damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure was recorded in the capital's Podilskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Obolonskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Solomyanskyi, Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi, and Darnytskyi districts.

A direct hit in the Podilskyi district partially destroyed the upper floors of a nine-story residential building. Rescuers noted that people might still be trapped under the rubble. At least five victims have been identified, and the search and rescue operation is ongoing.

The district also saw cars catch fire, a blaze in a four-story educational building, and the burning of vehicles and a warehouse on the premises of a municipal enterprise, SES emphasized.

They noted that a construction trailer caught fire at a site in the Obolonskyi district.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the facade and roof of a nine-story residential building were damaged.

A fire broke out on the territory of a gas station in the Darnytskyi district.

In the Solomyanskyi district, fires erupted in an apartment on the 16th floor of a 20-story building, inside a private home, and on the ninth floor of a 24-story high-rise, SES added. Rescuers freed a trapped man from one of the damaged structures.

According to rescue workers, a fire in the Holosiivskyi district engulfed a commercial site, destroying the second and third floors of a building. Additionally, cars, office spaces, kiosks, and retail outlets caught fire, while a business center suffered a fire and structural damage.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a five-story residential building was damaged, including its facade and windows. At another location, the roof of a nine-story building sustained minor damage.

Minor damage was reported at an unfinished construction site in the Pecherskyi district.

Rescuers and other specialized services continue working at the impact sites. Data regarding the consequences of the attack is still being clarified.

Overnight on June 2, Russian forces launched Shahed kamikaze drones at Ukraine. After that the Ukrainian Air Force recorded launches of Kalibr cruise missiles.

Explosions were also heard in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Sumy.
