FSB head fears Russian leadership could be eliminated with explosive gadgets 'at the right moment'

After Hezbollah militants' gadgets were remotely detonated in an operation, Kremlin officials, including FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov, voiced concerns that similar tactics could be used against them during a CIS security meeting.
The detonation of pagers, radios, and other devices left thousands of Hezbollah operatives wounded, with at least 20 fatalities in Lebanon. Although Israeli intelligence agencies are suspected of orchestrating the operation, no official confirmation has been given.
Russian security officials worry they might face the same threat. Bortnikov warned that adversary intelligence could exploit vulnerabilities in electronic systems not only to disrupt critical infrastructure but also to carry out assassinations using portable electronics at a strategic moment.
He did not specify who might be planning this operation against Russian authorities.
