The Dovzhenko National Film Studio, one of Ukraine’s oldest, was significantly damaged in an overnight Russian attack on Kyiv, Culture Minister Tetyana Berezhna reported on June 15.
A fire broke out after the studio was hit, with the costume workshop sustaining the most damage.
The strike destroyed Ukraine's largest and oldest costume collection. The studio's archive held nearly 100,000 costumes and three million unique pieces of clothing.
The attack also damaged several other studio buildings and structures. Rescue and emergency services remain at the scene, where cleanup efforts are ongoing.
Berezhna called the attack another grave Russian crime against Ukrainian culture, emphasizing that these strikes target Ukrainian identity, memory, and history.
