The Day of SBU: How Ukrainian Security Services reshape the war’s course?

The SBU press service uncovered some details on its record achievement and special operations in an interview with NV.

The "record" of Russian taken prisoners was set in Russia's Kursk Oblast in the battles.

During one assault, the SBU fighters captured 100 Russian invaders at once. This, as emphasized by the officers, helped replenish the exchange fund.

Destruction of Russian military assets

Since February 24, 2022, and up until mid-March 2025, SBU fighters have destroyed over 1,700 Russian tanks, more than 3,000 armored vehicles, nearly 250 air defense systems, over 550 electronic warfare systems, and hundreds of other pieces of military equipment on the front lines.

Throughout the full-scale war, the SBU conducted several unique special operations that shocked the invaders. Among them were the two explosions of the Crimean Bridge: one in October 2022 using a truck with explosives, and another in July 2023 using surface drones called Sea Baby.

Additionally, 11 Russian military ships were struck in the Black Sea.

Innovative military technology and drones

With the help of surface drones and maintaining control over the waterway to ensure the grain corridor, the SBU has made significant impacts. Fighters of the SBU also regularly carry out "dipstrikes" deep into Russian territory, delivering painful blows to the enemy’s military-industrial complex.

"Russia loses billions of dollars from the long-range drones of the SBU, which are capable of covering distances of 1,500 km," the SBU reported. Ukrainian special forces have also caused explosions (or how Ukrainians call it - 'bavovna' - translated as 'cotton') at military airfields, weapon depots, oil storage facilities, and factories producing drones and guided bombs.

Counterintelligence and anti-drone efforts

The SBU’s counterintelligence operations are also highly effective, as they neutralize terrorists and saboteurs, detaining 100% of the enemy's recruited arsonists and saboteurs. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the SBU has uncovered 102 Russian spy networks.

Effective anti-drone teams are working within the SBU, destroying enemy drones - Supercam, Orlan, Zala, Lancet, and their crews on the front lines.

SBU’s technological advancements and global recognition

The SBU has become a generator of military and technological solutions, with innovations like the Sea Baby and Mamai surface drones, long-range drones, sniper weapons, and more. The SBU also set a world record for sniper shot distance with its Volodar of the Horizon rifle — 3.8 kilometers.

SBU’s role in securing Ukraine’s future

Today, the tasks of the Security Service are vast, ranging from destroying Russia's military potential to combating terrorism in Ukrainian cities and villages.

"We hold every part of the front together with our "brothers" from the Defense Forces because behind us are the lives and security of the citizens," SBU head Vasyl Maliuk said.
