The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the targets
included the Tel Nof Airbase in Israel, its military headquarters and a major
defense industry complex in Tel Aviv. The corps said it used missiles and
drones in what it described as a sixth “wave of retaliatory attacks” and vowed
to continue military operations.
“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will not
allow the air raid sirens to cease in the occupied territories and at American
bases and will continue to deliver repeated and destructive strikes as another
and very harsh step of revenge,” the IRGC said in a statement. The United
States and Ukraine have designated the IRGC a terrorist organization.
Earlier, Iranian state media confirmed that Supreme Leader
Ali Khamenei died on Feb. 28 as a result of strikes by Israel and the United
States. The death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Mohammad
Pakpour was also confirmed. According to the IRNA news agency, Ali Shamkhani,
the supreme leader’s chief security adviser, was also killed in the attack.
U.S. and Israel launch operation against Iran
On Feb. 28, 2026, Israel and the United States announced strikes
on Iran — operations dubbed Rising Lion by Israel and Epic Fury by the United
States.
Multiple explosions were reported in Tehran and other major
Iranian cities. Strikes targeted the residences of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei
and President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as military and nuclear facilities.
Satellite images showed Ali Khamenei’s palace was completely
destroyed.
In response, Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel.
Iranian missiles also struck Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait,
Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Strikes were reported on U.S. military bases.
