Tasnim said Iran’s negotiating team has paused talks and the exchange of messages through intermediaries because Israeli attacks in Lebanon violated one of the ceasefire conditions. The agency quoted Iranian officials as demanding an end to Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon, adding, “until Iran’s and the resistance’s position on these matters is satisfied, there will be no negotiations.”
Later Monday, President Donald Trump told NBC News in a phone interview that Tehran had not formally notified Washington of any suspension. He said such a move would not necessarily mean the United States would resume full-scale military operations, and that his administration could “simply go silent” while maintaining the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered strikes on the Dahieh neighborhood of Beirut, describing it as a Hezbollah stronghold. A CNN source said the plans were coordinated with the United States. Israel also warned residents of Dahieh to evacuate.
