The 82-year-old appeared frail in footage posted on social media, showing him greeting supporters as he exited a church, the New York Post reported. The video, shared by user Fred Karger, highlighted the scar partially concealed by his gray hair.
“I was a little surprised because it’s a noticeable scar,” Karger told Inside Edition.
After the clip began circulating online, a Biden spokesperson told CNN the scar was from a procedure to remove cancerous skin lesions.
In 2023, Biden had a basal cell carcinoma—a common form of skin cancer—removed from his chest. His doctor at the time said all cancerous tissue was successfully excised.
In May 2025, Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones. Despite the seriousness of the illness, doctors noted the tumor remained responsive to hormone therapy, which Biden confirmed he had begun.
