Russian forces execute unarmed Ukrainian POWs near Krynky foothold

Russian occupants may have shot Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered near Krynky, Kherson Oblast, as journalist Andriy Tsapliyenko’s video on Telegram shows motionless military being shot several times on April 7.

Volunteer Serhiy Sternenko also reported that occupiers shot captured soldiers of the Armed Forces in the Krynky area. Official confirmation of this information is currently unavailable.

Execution of Ukrainian POWs by Russians in 2024

According to the DeepState portal, Russian forces shot six captured Ukrainian soldiers at the Museum position (formerly Zenit) in Avdiivka. These soldiers had remained in the area after the Ukrainian army withdrew from the city on Feb. 18. Four of them were wounded and unable to escape the encirclement with other Ukrainian military personnel.

The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed that an investigation has been initiated into the shooting of six Ukrainian prisoners of war at the Zenit position in Avdiivka and two in Vesele, Donetsk Oblast.

According to DeepState, three soldiers of the 3rd Operational Brigade Spartan of the National Guard were killed by Russians during an assault on an Armed Forces stronghold.

A video released by DeepState depicts a recent execution of captured Ukrainian soldiers in the Bakhmut sector on Feb. 25. Analysts suggest that nine unarmed servicemen, likely from the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or attached units, were killed by Russians.

Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin highlighted that Ukrainian law enforcement officers are investigating 18 criminal cases related to the killing of 38 Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian forces.
