Keith Kellogg, who is set to become the U.S. special envoy
for Ukraine, will visit Kyiv and several European countries on a “fact-finding”
trip ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, Reuters reported on Dec.
17.
Unnamed sources told the journalists that the Trump administration aims to end the Russo-Ukrainian war “as soon as possible,” although Kellogg does not plan to visit Moscow during this trip.
Instead, he will meet with officials in Kyiv, and his team is arranging meetings with leaders in other European capitals, such as Rome and Paris, the sources added.
The trip details are still being finalized, and the itinerary may change. The primary purpose of the meetings is “fact-finding” for the incoming Trump administration, rather than “active negotiations.” However, the planned trip highlights the urgency the president-elect places on ending the war in Ukraine, the report notes.
