Four killed, 25 injured, including children after Russian 'double-tap' strikes on Kharkiv

UPDATED @ 11:15 a.m. - A fifth person has been reported killed in the attack. Of the 25 injured, eight are in hospital with two in serious condition. The two children are in stable condition.

A five-story residential building was partially destroyed (from the third to the fifth floor); a fire broke out there - three people were confirmed dead, Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synehubov reported. 

Five people may be still trapped under the rubble.

“25 people were injured, including two children - a boy and a girl, both 12 years old, as a result of the Russian strike.”

Six people, including a child, were rescued, it was reported at 8:00 a.m. EET.

“The Russians again used the ‘double-strike’ tactics, repeating its attack when the rescuers came to the site, a fire truck and an ambulance were damaged,” Kharkiv Governor added.

A sewing factory was hit in another city’s district, and its guard was killed.

A shop was also reported damaged.

NV is monitoring the aftermath of the attack.

Ukraine's Internal Affairs Ministry showed footage of the damage caused by the Russian attack on the residential building.

Five ignition sources at different locations over a total area of ​​about 1,200 square meters were recorded — the emergency department showed footage of the rescue operation at 7:30 a.m., Suspilne. Kharkiv reported, citing Kharkiv Police Chief Volodymyr Tymoshko.

“At least three locations have been hit in Kharkiv: a five-story residential building, a store located in a three-story building, and a sewing shop,” he said.

Windows were shattered in nearby buildings, people may have shrapnel and explosive injuries.

Reports showed that Russia fired five S-300 / S-400 missiles in the Novobavarskyi district - five hits were recorded on the city's civilian infrastructure. 

The first explosions in the city were reported by Synehubov and Terekhov at around midnight.
