Russia deploys new Molniya and jet-powered Shahed drones in strikes on Kharkiv

An explosion rang out in Kharkiv after a Russian jet-powered Shahed drone struck the city's Osnovyanskyi district while a Molniya drone hit the Industrialnyi district, Suspilne and Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported on June 24.

"According to preliminary data, a jet-powered Shahed hit the city's Osnovyanskyi district. We are establishing the consequences," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian Air Force earlier warned of a kamikaze drone heading toward Kharkiv from the north.

Updated at 6:22 a.m. An strike by an enemy Molniya-type drone was recorded on a closed facility in Kharkiv's Industrialnyi district, Terekhov reported.

"Several windows were blown out in a building located next to the impact site. There is no information about casualties yet," the mayor wrote.

On the morning of June 19, Russian troops attacked Kharkiv's Kholodnohirskyi district with guided aerial bombs. The strike damaged more than 40 private homes and a warehouse. Nine people were injured in the attack, including four children.

During the night of June 20, Russian occupiers attacked Kharkiv with aerial bombs. One bomb hit a two-story building in the Kholodnohirskyi district, killing one person and injuring nine others.

During the night of June 21-22, an enemy drone struck the facade of a high-rise building at the 22nd-floor level in Kharkiv's Shevchenkivskyi district, Terekhov reported.
