Dmitriev claimed there had been "significant progress" in negotiations over a potential ceasefire in Ukraine. He also discussed broader US-Russia relations.
According to Dmitriev, the Trump administration has shown a “creative” attitude and a respectful tone in its dialogue with Moscow.
He further stated:
-
US companies are ready to fill the market gaps left by European brands that exited Russia
-
Talks are underway to restore direct air travel between Russia and the US
-
US and Russia are exploring cooperation on Arctic ventures and rare earth mineral extraction
-
Additional meetings will be needed to finalize the resolution of all disagreements.
As reported earlier on April 2, Dmitriev — head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund — arrived in Washington for talks with Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff. According to media sources, US sanctions on Dmitriev were temporarily lifted for the visit.
In the early hours of April 3, Reuters confirmed the meeting took place. CNN earlier reported that a possible ceasefire in Ukraine would be one of the key topics.
